Eden, a white woman in her 30s, wears denim dungarees and a yellow jumper. She is laughing and holding a brightly coloured paper mache platypus. There are three framed colourful textile artworks on the wall behind her.

Befriending my Brain

My first solo show!

Visit my artwork at Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot, South Oxfordshire, 1st May to 2nd June.

Part of Oxfordshire Artweeks.

Welcome to my first solo show! My name is Eden, and as an artist and art facilitator I am all about playing around with creating, looking after our minds and being kinder to ourselves.

Befriending my Brain is a visual journey of me doing just that; attempting to, and perhaps starting to, make friends with my busy, sensitive, confusing, overwhelming mind.

At age 32, an autistic friend hinted that some of the traits I was describing could be linked to autism. It took me about a year to finally ‘hear’ that, along with some urgent dollops of ADHD, this is how my brain has been working all this time.

A big way I process the world and my feelings is through creating. It can be serious and it can be playful. What you see here is me processing my new-found identity, through mindful creating, slow stitching and making myself laugh.

You’ll see collages from paper and fabric I painted and printed onto, miniature embroideries and weavings, and much bigger quilted wall hangings. You might even see my papier-mâché platypus.

Have a look around my website and see what I offer.

From working with businesses to groups for adults and kids in South Oxfordshire, I can help with your creative wellbeing needs.
