Hello! I’m Eden: art facilitator,

Who is Eden Fay?

I’m Eden Silver-Myer. Fay is my middle name. I’m a mindful art facilitator, mindfulness teacher and artist based in South Oxfordshire, England. I live with my partner and our two cats, Effie and Seymour, who like to help me with most things I do.

I host art and mindfulness sessions, online and in person, to help you be kind to yourself. I also create my own artwork, and jewellery from precious metals (and sometimes cardboard).

I have been living with anxiety and depression for a long time, and so looking after my own mental health has been, and continues to be, a huge part of my life. Making art helps me to check in with myself and unwind, and has made a big difference when looking after my own well-being. I realised I could help others do the same, and it makes my heart so happy to see people unwinding and enjoying themselves during my sessions.

I have always loved making art and making a mess. There’s something so delicious about splatting paint around without a paintbrush.

More recently I discovered mindfulness. When creating art mindfully, it helps my mind (that always seems to be on fast-forward) slow down and focus. It helps me understand how I’m feeling more. And the best part is, creating art mindfully adds a whole new dimension to the process!

I am a qualified Mindfulness teacher, accredited by the UK College of Mindfulness Meditation, and teach secular mindfulness.

Groups well-being at work

We all have mental health, and wherever we work we can benefit from looking after our minds. I can help you look after your team’s well-being.

  • I have held monthly sessions in person with Milton Park: Science and Technology Park, and one-off sessions for Cornerstone Arts Centre and Lindt UK.

  • Previously I have delivered staff well-being virtual sessions for organisations such as the NHS, Group for Education in Museums, Dovetail Games, Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists North London and Year Here.

Groups charities and organisations supporting wellbeing

I have worked in person with groups such as MyVision Oxfordshire, which supports people with visual impairments, and Youth Challenge Oxfordshire, Sweatbox and TRAIN Didcot, groups which support young people to develop confidence and resilience.

I have hosted virtual workshops for groups such the Mayday Trust, which supports people going through tough times, Art & Soul, which provides arts workshops to support mental health, Oxford City Cultural Education Partnership and their Feeling Safe Project, as well as with stroke survivors within the NHS.

“Thank you ever so much for today! You really embraced the group and created a care free environment. We need more people like you in the world.”

My journey to mindful art

I have always loved creating, and after A-Levels I completed a Fine Art Foundation at Byam Shaw, Central St Martins, before going on to study Three Dimensional Design: Metalwork and Jewellery at UCA Farnham, where I achieved First Class Honours in 2013. I have worked in the jewellery industry since then, and still create my own jewellery designs. Later I achieved a Distinction in MA Curating Contemporary Design at Kingston University, and it was this course that really helped me identify that accessibility was a huge driving force for me.

I decided to start my own art sessions in 2019 when I realised I didn’t want to teach art, I wanted to help people play with art. For me the art is a wonderful bonus; taking the time to be kind to yourself and create is way more important than what it looks like.

Over the pandemic it became clearer that my mental health was benefitting from making art. I could see this with others too; people were relaxing whilst creating with me.

I’ve been practicing mindfulness for some years, and in 2021 I decided to train to become a mindfulness teacher. I wanted to add mindfulness into my art offering as I knew how much it enhanced art making, as well as life, for me.

All of my sessions are designed to help you slow down and relax, whatever your experience of art and/or mindfulness. There is never any pressure, expectation or judgement. They are time for you to explore, unwind, and prioritise your mental health.

Lovely words

“Eden is amazing! I have worked with Eden in multiple ways; attending her inspirational art classes for my own creativity and expression (and with my family) - they gave me some much needed space for myself.”

— Liz

“I've attended Eden's in-person sessions at Cornerstone Arts Centre and have discovered so many new ways to have fun and play with art. I feel like my day is brightened afterwards and will always come back for future events!”
